MORE ITUNES HELP> PLEASE HELP!! URGENTTT!!!

my itunes wont regonise my ipod, iplug it in and all it says is "The software required for comunicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstal ituens to instal the ipods software". ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes roughly 36565062065 times. it stopped working when i plugged in my cuzins ipod touch into my itunes.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME???

If it's an iPod touch just put it in DFU mode and restore it
I would tell you how except it's 1am and i'm on my iPod :/
but if you google or even better YouTube "dfu Mode restore iPod touch" then it should tell you
but if it's a normal iPod then none of this applies and I'm a noob

sorry its not an ipod touch i should of mentioned that :/
