This tutorial will show you how to make a hello world program that displays a message box saying hello.

1. Open visual studio 2010 once it has loaded you should see the start page on the start page should be a menu with items saying Welcome, Projects, Visual Studio make sure your on Projects

2. Click new project. A new menu should popup look to the left you should see a list of installed templates in this tutorial im going to use the language "Visual Basic". So click Visual Basic and look in the center of the screen click Windows Forms Application. Give your project a name and click Ok.

3. To the left of the screen there should be a toolbox in the toolbox there is a list of tools find the "button" tool and drag it onto the Form which is located in the center of the screen

4. After all this your form should look like this
Visual Studio - Hello World Untitl13

5. Now double click the button. You should see about 4 lines of code

6. Now its time to write the event handler for the button. The event handler handles the events that the buttons does when it is clicked.

7. The code goes like this.
Code:
 MessageBox.Show "Hello World"

8. Pretty easy, this is how the code works. First the object is declared in this case the message box then it is told to show itself then in quotations you input the text that is going to be in the message box and thats pretty much it

9. Thanks for reading

Yeah I'm going but I'm not sure if i wanna spend the time to learn how to use it. I could just use game maker instead...

yeh except this program isnt for games as much as gamemaker its more for programs, so using gamemaker would be good if you want to stick with games
